TSC On Spot As Kuppet Reveals The Following On Teachers Promotions
The Teacher Service Commission (TSC) on spot as the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education (KUPPET) reveals emerging issues ahead of the forthcoming promotion of teachers scheduled to take place from next week affecting some categories of teachers.
Teachers have now received bad news following emerging issues revealed by KUPPET ahead of the next teachers’ promotions.
The Teachers Service Commission has shown a lot of dedication to ensure that the education sector is running smoothly.
The commission has been offering new employment opportunities and promotions to teachers across the country.
Next week the teacher service commission is going to conduct interviews for the promotion of over 2400 teachers.
KUPPET has come out boldly to question TSC in the way and criteria the commission uses to promote teachers.
According to KUPPET, the scoring matrix and tools used to promote teachers is discriminative and only favour a given group of teachers.
KUPPET has alleged that the scoring matrix and tools used by the Teachers Service Commission disadvantage some tutors by placing more weight on student performance as opposed to their qualifications.
Therefore the score sheet favours the teacher in extra-county and national schools which usually post good results ignoring teachers from schools that post poor results in national examinations.
Now KUPPET is calling upon the teacher’s service commission to come up with a new scoring matrix and tools that will favour all teachers across the country regardless of the performance of the institution in the national examinations.
TSC announced the promotion exercise today that will kick off next week with interviews to be conducted at the county offices. According to TSC promotion shall be based on merit.
The commission added that the competition shall be very tight for there many teachers who are equally qualified to serve in the advertised posts.
