Two Girls (Minors) Caught Smuggling Bhang Into Prison
Two girls aged 17 and 15 were caught snuggling Bhang Into industrial area prison while posing as relatives of a prisoner.
The fwo minors were arrested over the weekend after being caught sneaking in several rolls of bhang into the facility.
The girls went to the facility under guise of being relatives to one of the prisoners. The girls ‘ fake relatives to the prisoner’ wanted to deliver some food and clothes to him.
The officials at the facility gate searched the luggage that the girls were carrying and that is when they found the bhang.
The two minors were interrogated and later handed over to police at the Industrial Area police station for processing.
Police in charge of the case said they want to determine if the girls were sent by someone else to deliver the cargo. The two girls (minor’s) caught Smuggling Bhang Into prison may appear in court Tuesday according to a report from the police.
The incident comes as authorities begin using an amended law that intends to enhance penalties on drug traffickers and narcotic smugglers so as to rid the country of drug trafficking and smuggling. The amended law was gazetted last month.
According to Research findings bhang is the drug of choice for most drug abusers, traffickers and smugglers in Kenya.
Substance abuse has been a huge menace and pose a major challenge by impacting negatively on the governance and criminal sector in the country.
Severe penalties will be handed to any person caught abusing, trafficking or smuggling drugs in accordance with the amended law.
