Francis Mathenge Wanderi has is the third IEBC commissioner to resignas after vice chairperson Julian Cherera and Justice Nyang’aya.
In a letter to President William Ruto dated December 7, Wanderi said the ‘argonising’ decision to quit was due to ‘undue and unwarranted public lynching’.
He said that his decision was extremely difficult and argonising to him and his entire family.
His resignation comes days after IEBC Vice Chairperson Juliana Cherera resigned from her positions.
The four IEBC commissioners who disowned the results for the general elections were suspended a few weeks ago. They were to face a tribunal.
However, three out of the four commissioners have already resigned. Irene Masit is the only one who has not resigned.
It is not clear why the commissioners are resigning. None of them has stated clearly why they are quitting.
