A 13-year-old boy shot himself in the Chereni area of Ruai using his father’s pistol.
The incident happened when the father who is a police Commissioner of the North Eastern Region, left his pistol on the sofa in the sitting room to go to the bathroom.
A few minutes later, while the police Commander was chatting with his wife, Judy Watetu, they heard a gunshot rang out from one of their son’s bedrooms.
They rushed to the room where the gunshot came from and found that the boy had locked himself inside the room. With the help of his wife they broke into the bedroom and found that the boy had shot himself in the left side of the head.
Samson Kariuki King’ori was a student at Shujaa Elite Academy.
The incident was processed and documented at the crime scene.
The body has been transferred to Kenyatta University Mortuary pending post-mortem and further investigations to the saddening incident.
