TSC Advertises Vacancies for 20,000 Teachers
The Teachers Service Commission has announced 20,000 job vacancies for intern teachers in Public Primary and Junior Secondary Schools.
In an advertisement, 18,000 teachers are needed in Junior Secondary Schools and 2,000 in Public Primary Schools, to support the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum.
“The Teacher Internship Programme is a one-year programme meant to equip and sustain competencies of persons entering the teaching service,” noted the Commission.

On successful completion of the internship programme, teacher interns will be awarded a certificate.
The deadline for application is on July 10, 2023.
Teacher interns attached to primary schools will be eligible for a monthly salary of 15,000 shillings while those attached to JSS will be paid a monthly salary of 20,000 shillings.
To qualify as a JSS intern teacher, a candidate must be a Kenyan citizen and a registered teacher with TSC TSC.
Persons with disabilities and teachers from TVET institutions have also been encouraged to apply.
According to TSC, the applicant should be unemployed and not previously employed by the Commission as an intern or on permanent and pensionable terms.
Candidates will be required to present original academic and professional certificates and manual applications will not be considered.
In addition, successful candidates will be required to have personal accident insurance to cover personal risks during the internship period.
Selection of candidates will be based on merit only and on the number of vacancies available per county. Successful candidates must not fill more than one offer of internshipinternship.
Candidates who will be successful will be posted to teach in any primary or junior secondary school in the county where they were interviewed or in any part of the country where the vacancy is available.
Further, successful candidates for JSS shall be required to teach various learning areas under Junior Secondary Curriculum.
Candidates have been advised to carry a copy of the teacher registration certificate or print-out from the TSC online portal as evidence of registration as a teacher.
A copy of the National Council for Persons with Disability (NCPWD) card where applicable, a copy of the National Identity Card (ID) or Passport, two colour passport size photographs, a copy of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) card and a copy of Kenya Revenue Authority Personal Identification Number (KRA PIN).
The commission noted that interested and qualified teachers should apply for the vacancies online through the Commission’s website, www.tsc.go.ke under careers or teachernonline.tsc.go.ke,” the commission noted.
