Wonders: Mayor Marries a Reptile Dressed With a White Gown and a Veil
Mexican Mayor named Hugo Sosa have gained fame globally after taking vows with an alligator all dressed in white gown complete with a veil. A few days ago he was not popular outside mexico but now his name has spread globally.
The ceremony was colourful and was attended by Mexicans, who celebrated on as Mr Sosa said “I do” to the christened “princess” the alligator. He planted a kiss on the little princess in one of the pictures that were taken during the ceremony.
According to the reports, the ceremony was part of traditional rituals to pray for prosperity. When the ceremony ended the “little princess” was carried by the locals through the streets of San Pedro Huamelula, in the country’s Oaxaca state.

It is believed that the seven-year-old alligator is a deity representing mother earth, whose marriage to any leader will not only bring prosperity to the nation but also it will join humans with the divine power or the spiritual world. Being the mayor, he married the alligator.
The tradition is said to be a combination of two rituals from the Chontal and Huave indigenous communities, who would pray for nature’s bounty, and Catholicism.
