Kisii: Police Arrest Five Suspects, 588kgs Of Bhang Recovered
On Saturday, police in Kisii County confiscated two cars that were carrying six bails and fourteen sacks of suspected bhang.
The illicit material weighed 588 kg in total—189 kg in one car and 399 kg in the other.
According to police, the same is worth Sh17,640,000 on the open market.
Two more suspects who are rumored to have escaped the police during the operation are being sought after, while five suspects have already been taken into custody.
Nyamarambe Police Station is holding the evidence, which include the cars, the number plates, and the suspected drug.
DCI Gucha South is now investigating the case.

The public’s ongoing help in the battle against crime has been acknowledged and commended by the National Police Service.
Felix Koskei, Head of Public Service, stated on Friday that drug usage has turned into a threat to humanity, particularly to Kenyans.
He declared war on drug addiction and the illegal trade, promising the government would see to it that the vice was eradicated.
He made his remarks at Machakos University during a gathering of stakeholders.
Koskei urged all parties involved—politicians, state representatives, and Kenyans—to work together in the fight to eradicate these vices from the country.
“Let’s stand up against this, MCAs, governors, MPs, assistant chiefs, chiefs, assistant county commissioners, deputy county commissioners, and everyone else so that we can save this.” he said.
“I beg of you all, let us not back down, let us not give up or retreat. Let’s continue the struggle to make sure that those who are selling illegal beer, drugs, and second-rate booze laced with poison are apprehended, charged, and brought to justice.”
Two weeks ago
In the town of Ongata Rongai, police on Monday night found 26 sacks of bhang.
An estimate of the bhang’s street worth is Sh6,240,000.
According to Hussein, the drugs were found with one dead goat that had been killed by two of the accused.
He claimed that the suspects, who were taken into custody, are members of the African B Divine Church, a nearby congregation.
In Marsabit, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations burned more than 670 kg of marijuana on Wednesday.
According to DCI, the action was taken in accordance with an order from a Marsabit court that oversaw the destruction of the 152 kg of cannabis.
According to police, DCI Moyale was in charge of the 152 kg of marijuana and Moyale law courts had the 522 kg.
