Kithure Kindiki Appointed Cabinet Secretary For Interior Ministry
EDUCATION
Kithure went to Tharaka Boys secondary school and Lenana High School . Kithure is a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Laws from Moi University. He obtained his Diploma in Legal Studies in 2001 from the Kenya School of Law Nairobi. In addition Prof. Kthure holds a Masters in International Human Rights Law and Democracy and a Philosopy Doctorate in International Law, both froma university in south Africa , the University of Pretoria.
HIS CAREER.
Professor Kithure was a lecturer at Moi university and University of Nairobi before joining politics. His teaching career began in 1999 at Moi University as a lecturer of law. He later joined the University of Nairobi in the year 2004 where he served until 2005 when he went back to Moi university to lead the department of Public Law.
After the 2008 post election violence , Kithure Kindiki was appointed to serve in the position of the National Cohesion Secretary in the Ministry of Justice and he proof to be an instrumental by drafting of the National Cohesion and Integration Act. Unfortunately , Kithure resigned after three months in the office after which he accused the government of lacking political will to provide homes for hundreds of thousands of people who were displaced during the 2007/08 post-election violence.
Kithure later was became a public figure when President Ruto appointed him as part of his legal team during the ICC prosecution when he was charged against humanity at the ICC , Netherlands.
HIS POLITICAL CAREER.
He served in the Senate position for Tharaka-Nithi County, a position he has held since 2013. In his first attempt in politics he managed to secure the seat. He then became the first elected Majority leader in the Senate and later he became the Deputy Speaker through Senate election immediately after the 2017 general elections.
Kithure was later removed from the Deputy speaker’s position in the year 2020. This came after the fall-out between Former President Uhuru Kenyatta and his then deputy Wiliam Ruto who is the current President of the republic of Kenya.
Kithure was President’s chief campaigner after he failing to secure the running mate position.
Professor Kithure Kindiki Abraham was appointed the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Interior docket on 27th September 2022 awaiting approval by the National Assembly.
